The flow of gas from Egypt to Jordan & Israel halted

KAIRO - After more than a week rocked by massive demonstrations of action that calls on President Hosni Mubarak's back, this time Egypt again shocked by a sabotage explosion of a gas pipeline that runs through the northern Sinai.

With the explosion resulted in the disruption of gas flow toward Israel and Jordan. It is the extremist Islamists suspected militants allegedly exploiting the riots that rocked the government.


"This is the biggest terrorist operations," said one television station in Egypt's reportage as reported by Reuters on Sunday (06/02/2011).

A security source in North Sinai said that 'foreign elements' target branch pipe which supplies the area of Jordan.

A source from the Egyptian security forces also said that Egyptian forces had closed the main source of gas pipelines that supply and control the fire.

In the meantime, Jordan said the gas supply from Egypt is expected to remain stopped about a week until the pipe was repaired. Israel also said that over the next few days it will be a city without gas from Egypt.


As a precaution, the Government of Jordan have enabled electric power to the oil and diesel fuel after the supply of Egyptian gas to membantuk stopped generating electricity in most regions in Jordan.

Meanwhile, Israeli National Infrastructure Ministry said it also has an available alternative sources of energy and anticipation that eventually there is no disruption to the domestic electricity production. "Economic Israel must prepare for several days without supplies of natural gas from Egypt," said the Ministry of Israel.

The attack on the gas pipeline that is due to the desire of President Mubarak's demonstration came down from his post, and this demonstration has been happening for 12 days, with no signs to end the confrontation against the thousands of anti-and pro-government demonstrators.

"Sabotage is taking advantage of the current security situation to blow up gas pipeline," said one correspondent for television stations in Egypt.
